BARBARA BLAIR WORKSHOP

Thanks to the Monday Musical Club of Tillamook, the Vocal Ensemble and Jazz Band were treated to a workshop with Barbara Blair and Jazz Trio.

We heard some cool jazz
from some very talented jazz musicians.

We know more about what a bridge is and what it means to "vamp".

Also, they performed one song in three different styles: Latin, Swing and Ballad.

Keep singing.

SCAPPOOSE CHOIR EXCHANGE

Mrs. Routh, the choir director from Scappoose HS said her choir was coming to Tillamook for a retreat. She asked, "Do you want to do a choir exchange?" I said, "For sure".

This is how it all turned out

The Mixed Choir had their After Concert party so these 3 lovely ladies prepared water bottles and Tillamook (of course) cheese samples with a welcome note for each Scappoose singer.

Our Concert Choir organized ourselves on the risers just as Scappoose arrived.

We sang and then they sang for us.

The bell rang, and the Vocal Ensemble took a turn at "exchanging" songs.

We took a group picture (thank you to Shannon, Mrs. Routh's student teacher this year) and then gathered in the choir room.

SHS sang a parting song and then we said our goodbyes.

What a great afternoon of singing. Thank you for coming, SHS!!

MAYOR'S BALL

The Band and Vocal Ensemble were chosen to serve at this ye
ar's Mayor's Ball which is a fund-raiser for the Tillamook Education Foundation.

We sold Italian
Sodas or "Moroccan Coolers" as we called them. The theme for the evening was Casablanca.

Here are some pictures of the evening's festivities.

Jenny Wyss, our THS Art Teacher, created these BEAUTIFUL murals

There was a little dancing. . . .

Some time for posing . . .

Addie helped Mr. Armstrong greet everyone at the entrance:

Kathleen Newton and Joe Happ are on the Foundation Board. They give us such wonderful publicity through their media business, I told them I'd give them some publicity on my blog. Now if I could only remember the name of their business... ???
Someone please leave me a comment and refresh my memory.

Thank you to
all students that helped.

I hope you had as
much fun as I did.
